book giveaway winners! (1)

Thanks so much to the 9 lovely contestants (and to my Cousin's Uncle, who seldom has anything of pertinence to say on here but does have an admirable taste in dessert) who entered my first ever book giveaway. You have all generously contributed to a very noble cause, which I like to refer to as LJTTSPJFTOBABHFH* and for that you have earned my eternal gratitude. Anyway, without further ado, here are the three winners (who I will also notify individually):

1. Cate Tiernan's Immortal Beloved goes to NYMFAUX, who enjoys cheesecake. Not my personal favorite, but I certainly won't turn it down...especially cheesecakes with that delicious graham cracker crust mmmmmmm and maybe a tart lemon filling? And a nice cup of decaf? Maybe some oreos to wash it down? Now we're talkin.

2. Kelley Armstrong's The Summoning goes to Michelle of See Michelle Read (which, incidentally, I always want to read as See Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy authoress)). Michelle's favorite dessert is "delish oreo cake." I am totes on board with that. Anything cakey and oreo-y is A-ok in my Fatty-McFat book.

3. Claudia Gray's Evernight goes to Lisa R. of Lisa's Loves(Books of Course). Lisa is the winner of this book due to sheer bravery and independent thinking; even though she's heard Evernight compared to a steaming pile of cow dung, she's willing to give it a shot, and that takes guts. Also she was the only one who wanted this book. Her favorite dessert is "cherry yum yum." I'm not familiar with that (I tend to stray away from anything that doesn't have chocolate in it) but here's what came up when I typed it into google images. Doesn't look half bad!

Thanks again to everyone who entered my contest! There will be another giveaway soon...stay tuned!

  3. Oh,oh that really worries me, being the only one that wants Evernight. But I'll suffer if necessary. Cause if it is that bad you'll hear about it. I don't tolerate a bad book quietly. Thanks for the opportunity to check it out.

Oh and the recipe for Cherry Yum Yum follows. It's so quick and easy(and it does have chocolate :) in it.

    Cherry Yum Yum

1 pkg instant white chocolate Jello pudding
1 pkg instant cheesecake Jello pudding
    1 medium container Cool Whip
2 to 3 cans cherry pie filling
    Graham cracker crumbs

Put graham cracker crumbs in bottom of container. I use a 9 X 13 glass casserole dish. Mix both boxes of pudding according to directions on box. I do this in one big bowl. (Be sure you double the milk as there are two boxes.) Mix half the container of Cool Whip in the pudding. Place a layer of cherry pie filling on graham cracker crumbs, then a layer of
pudding mixture. Repeat layering ending with left over Cool Whip on top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. I often will substitute blueberry pie filling for 1 can of cherry and will put cherry on one end and blueberry on the other. This also makes a great red, white and blue dessert for the 4th.
Oh, and if you don't like fruit, I
will also use the basic recipe and use broken up Oreo cookies (leave out the Graham cracker crumbs too) in place of the pie fillings. The kids and hubby love it.

  4. @Lisa--don't be worried--I totally would have loved Evernight--I've heard really great things about all 3 books--I just picked Immortal Beloved, because I've been obsessing over Cate Tiernan since her Sweep series, and didn't want to wait until September ;)
...That said, I do feel a little remiss in my choice of desert, I've been trying to eat healthier lately, which means I've been having all kinds of sweet cravings, and instead of putting a hundred things down...I went with cheesecake (in my mind it had a graham cracker crust)...and because it said DESSERT...I didn't put down my first choice, which I think more of as breakfast...a chocolate-covered long john with custard filling (long johns are the rectangular form of donuts; on the west coast they call them "bars.")...I've also been wanting ice cream, all kinds, and blizzards mixed with heath and butterfinger...and chocolate mousse cake, and ice cream sandwiches, root-beer popsicles, and bannana popsicles, and those little ice cream sundae cups...oh, and ice cream cupcakes, which are regular cupcakes with ice cream cones put on top of them while they're baking, so they come out looking like ice cream cones when you frost them!!!
...I was having such a hard time deciding, I just went with cheesecake, which seemed less complicated, and still sounded good :) I hope I have somewhat redeemed myself :)
